Innovation is key to Akona approach we are therefore proud to work alongside media specialists, who have a track-record of achievement in the rail industry. They have completed training productions for both Crossrail and Transport for London (TfL).
With ‘Sentinel’ accredited camera crew and editing staff, they are able to provide Akona’s clients with both unique ‘classroom’ and ‘on-site’ training solutions – traditional ‘front-of-class’ tutorials supported by trackside footage which can show training work actually being completed on-location.
In addition to the ‘live-streaming’ of training sessions, Akona can also provide animation and CGI graphics to enhance existing training materials.
The company also has a team of dedicated UAV ‘drone’ camera operators, experienced in working trackside.
Akona were contracted to develop six animated films for the Elementary schoolchildren and a single ‘live action’ film for the High School youngsters – and for possible use for social media / adult / community purposes.
In serving these distinctly and diverse ‘audience’ profiles the films are, of course, quite different in their formats and content.
To complement the excellent hard copy and online learning support materials created by Akona, the two kinds of films have approached the six identified problem areas in completely different ways. The animated films have been designed to engage and inform young children in simplistic but nonetheless clear and memorable terms, whilst the ‘live action’ film – aimed at the older age group – is by necessity much more hard-hitting, with detailed background and technical content and some quite challenging visual and audio content.
As we understood that the live action film might also have social media / community / adult purposes we have made it a truly collaborative production, using a number of Caltrain’s positive and creative images and film clips from its media stock. We hope you like and approve of this and I trust that you will be pleased with the finished films.
In addition, to support the potential social media / adult / community function – and to soften the ‘live action’ film’s message somewhat – we have also included a very positive Caltrain ‘career / recruitment’ section at the end, intended to engender and encourage interest from local people and youngsters, and to enable schools or community groups to provide relevant career advice. We would be pleased to assist in editing individual school logo and contact details into distributed films to facilitate this, if required.
We perceive that this initial (and successful) 52-mile electrification project may be the precursor of further such projects in future and so we have sequenced and formatted that the film so that it can be adapted to suit other projects simply and cost effectively.
