OLEC 2 Linesman

  • Position title: OLEC 2 Linesman
  • Location: North East and North West
  • Department: Overhead Line Electrification (OLE)
  • Reports to: OLE Supervisor

As an OLEC 2 Linesman, you will be working under direction supporting the OLEC 3 team during installation, maintenance, and repair of overhead line equipment (OLE) in rail infrastructure. This role requires working at heights and in various weather conditions to ensure the effective operation of the rail electrification systems. You will work as part of a team to deliver high-quality and safe electrification services.

Key Role Responsibilities (whilst working under direction):

  • Installation and Maintenance: Carry out the installation, maintenance, and repair of OLE systems, including wires, insulators, and supporting structures.
  • Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations, procedures, and standards specific to rail electrification, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry guidelines.
  • Team Collaboration: Work effectively with other team members and supervisors to complete tasks efficiently and safely.
  • Documentation (logbook): Maintain accurate records of work performed, including installation, maintenance, and inspection details. This will assist you in your personal development.
  • Emergency Response: Respond to emergency situations involving OLE systems, providing rapid and effective solutions to restore service.
  • Training: Participate in ongoing training and development to stay updated with the latest techniques, regulations, and safety practices in rail electrification. Akona can offer opportunities for personal development.

Qualifications:

  • OLEC 1 & 2, working at height, small and power tools training.
  • Experience: Proven experience in OLE installation, maintenance, and repair, preferably within the rail industry.
  • Safety Training: Completion of relevant safety courses, such as Working at Heights and First Aid.
  • Technical Skills: Strong technical knowledge of OLE systems, including components and installation methods
  • Physical Fitness: Ability to work at heights and in various weather conditions, with good physical fitness and stamina.
  • Communication: Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
