Overview of the Course
To deliver the basic training required to provide delegates with sufficient knowledge and hands-on practical skills for undertaking basic OLE construction activities safely and effectively under direction.

Course content
- Explain, in basic terms, the functions of the main component parts of OLE systems
- Explain the requirements for working safely at all times, complying with health and safety and other relevant regulations and guidelines
- Explain the limits of their own authority
- Demonstrate their ability to complete basic OLE construction activities using correct tools and equipment, under direction from competent personnel
- Demonstrate a basic ability to interpret renewal, installation and enhancement documentation for the components to be renewed or installed
- Explain recording, reporting and escalation procedures
- Explain the importance of producing accurate records of work undertaken
COURSE DELIVERY MODEL
Theory and practical sessions shall be classroom based led by an approved trainer and shall include a mix of lecture style presentations, group discussions/exercises together with appropriate question and answer interaction with the delegates to ensure learning is taking place. Theory sessions shall be supported with appropriate multimedia presentations. Practical training sessions shall be undertaken on an OLE training span.
Pre-Requisites & Requirements
There are no pre-requisites for attending this training course. However, before undertaking the assessment for OLEC 2 a person must have been certified competent in OLEC 1: Access OLE Construction Sites, and would normally have completed Working at Height, Emergency First Aid and Safe Manual Handling courses. In any event: these courses will need to be successfully completed before working on an OLE construction site.
Completion of the course
OLEC 2 will now be uploaded onto the sentinel system. Please be advised you will need to recert this competency every 2 years. Learners will be issued with a work experience log book that is to be completed with any evidence. This will be used as part of the evidence required for the OLEC 2 recertification.
